HEDSA...was formed in 2005 and currently has ~ 60 active members from academia and small businessadvocates for new initiatives to maintain the health of High Energy Density Science and related workforce in the United Statesserves as a point of contact for scientists in the field to communicate with sponsoring agencies for High Energy Density Science reminds those in government that there is a substantial academic and small business community in High Energy Density Science is the association of academic and small businesses engaged in High Energy Density Science

HEDSA New Initiatives (2013-2014): Authoring a document with recommendations for the HEDLP field A glossy brochure to highlight the achievements of HEDLP for each member of HEDSA Creation of a new ex-officio steering committee member - the Chair of the Student Body of HEDSA In charge of student affairs Please nominate (including self-nominations) a dynamic individual for this position The newsletter will continue on a triannual basis, highlighting news and views but useful information such as job postings, funding calls, conferences, etc. will be in a members-only version

We need to communicate that university and small business research programs are critical University research programs are crucial for educating and training the next generation of scientists for high- energy density physics Universities and small businesses have unique opportunities to explore new ideas and research directions The health of University research depends on the availability of competitive funding opportunities
