Nature of Course A study on traditional Television systems. Quantization and Predictive Coding. Compression based on Optimal Transform (KLT). Compression based on Discrete Cosine. Transform (DCT). JPEG and MPEG standards. Audio Compression.
6
To appreciate Audiovisual Technologies developed to date. To study fundamental theories and algorithms in AV technologies. To study modern standards in Video and Audio Compression. Aims: Familiarize with present technologies as a preliminary basis for generating new ones in the future.
7
A new mode of study Avoid brute force practicing of mathematical calculations. Identification and clear understanding of concepts and theories. Familiarize with basic system structures, standard and their applications. Accustom to “System Level” point of view. Capable of bridging theory and practice.
