1 Claudia Zuniga

2 Introductory class in acrylic painting designed to develop basic painting, and drawing skills. This course content includes composition and color theory, materials, tools, techniques, and the study of traditional and contemporary paintings styles. Also, basic techniques about how to made sculptures using clay. For this unit the students will work on a painting using the Master’s style and ideas.Using their techniques, the students will paint their favorite piece using their favorite artist’s style.

3 Essential Question: Can just anything be art? Unit Questions: What is the connection between beauty and art? Does art have to be realistic? Is it better if it is realistic? What makes it realistic? Content Questions: What are the main philosophies of art? What are the various forms of art?

4 2.0 CREATIVE EXPRESSION Creating, Performing, and Participating in the Visual Arts Students apply artistic processes and skills, using a variety of media to communicate meaning and intent in original works of art. Skills, Processes, Materials, and Tools 2.1 Solve a visual arts problem that involves the effective use of the elements of art and the principles of design. 2.2 Prepare a portfolio of original two-and three-dimensional works of art that reflects refined craftsmanship and technical skills. 2.3 Develop and refine skill in the manipulation of digital imagery (either still or video). 2.4 Review and refine observational drawing skills. Communication and Expression Through Original Works of Art 2.5 Create an expressive composition, focusing on dominance and subordination. 2.6 Create a two or three-dimensional work of art that addresses a social issue.

5 Students will develop facility in the conveyance of two-dimensional ideas in contemporary and current mode. Students will develop an awareness and insight into the world of the artists. Students will learn the various painting and drawing techniques. Students will learn how to made sculptures using clay. Students will collaborate with peers and share their ideas.

6 Project based learning is a student- centered, instructional model. Often, students collaborated with outside experts and community members. Projects provide an authentic and real world context for connecting. Learning activities, incorporation higher- order thinking around big ideas, and engaging students in the learning process.

7 Gauging student needs by determing students, prior knowledge of painting. Each painting fulfills a general problem assignment. This is to provide a learning framework and general structure. Encouraging self-direction and monitoring progress by giving a quiz.
