Angel Tears By: Kimberly Giebler
2
Angel Tears Large raindrops fall on my face Clinging to the lashes above my tear shined eyes I had nowhere to go I knew where I was but I was lost More lost then anyone could ever imagine The wind blew my knee length skirt Stinging the cut that had opened on my leg Carefully I pulled off my ankle boot Tying my sock around the cut
3
I started to walk again Limping in pain as I went I folded my arms, hugging my coat close Thankful for the hat I had on my head I walked far from the place I once called home Unsure if I would ever love again My physical pain was great But it was the pieces of my heart that ripped me in two There was no time to escape You grabbed my ankle as I pulled myself through the broken window
4
The moment I broke free you threw that broken bottle Slicing my leg and my hand Now I walk through the city this night Wondering if I would’ve been better off, Staying in that place with my father The man who said I killed my own mother The man who yelled and beat me Until my heart and soul bled The rain got harder and so did my pain Light’s flashed in the streets of New York City As memories flashed in my mind
5
My once blond hair was now a golden brown My blue eyes were still cold and dark with sadness A place to stay crossed through my mind I turned towards the building where he lived He was the only one who made me smile The only man who I knew would not hurt me, When he touched my hand My eyes would not fill with fear when he looked in my direction Slowly I started climbing the ladder I had used many times months ago To get to his window, hoping he would help me
6
Pain shot through my legs and hands with each step I took At last I made it to the top And slid my tiny body inside When I hit the floor he turned with a start Then ran over concerned He sat down beside me I flinched as his arms pressed the bruise I had on my arm But I didn’t move too tired to speak I let him hold me Then he looked at my wounds and cleaned them gently After taking my jacket he held me in his arms Whispering it would all be alright
7
He didn’t have to ask what happened He knew right away Many times my father had hit me in front of him Instead he just wiped away my tears Telling me I didn’t deserve it And he wouldn’t let him take me back I knew it was true I looked out the window to see the rain had stopped He kissed my head as I buried my face in his chest It was then that I realized The rain was the tears of my guardian angel
8
Watching my life fall apart But now the tears had stopped And I was safe for once in my life The End Onto the rest of the assignment!

The Meaning When reading this poem we sense a feel of hurt. We see a teenaged girl walking alone at night. By the line’s “The man who said I killed my own mother the man who yelled and beat me Until my heart and soul bled” we get the picture that the girl is abused by her father and is now running away to someone who hopefully still cares about her even though something unknown happened. In the end we see that he still cares for her and always will.

Why Angel Tears? I choose to do this poem because it is very emotional to the reader and pulls stings and peoples hearts. Another reason is because I am a very happy person, but this shows the I have the ability to feel and express emotion I have never experienced. (but I do think if it were real it would be un-explainable) People tell me that this is one of my best and most original peace of poetry, and I wanted to express that.
