Solitude Wordsworth, in particular and romantics in general, believed in the idea that one could find the entire world by looking at just one grain of sand. One needed time by oneself away from the hustle of people for introspection and self appreciation. Romantics liken solitude to the infinent.

Solitude in “The Solitary Reaper” The title itself is evidence of the theme being present in the poem. The words “single’, “solitary”, “by herself” and “alone” appear in the first six lines of the first stanza.

Harmony with nature The romantics believed that if you loved nature then you loved humanity. You were able to create spiritual values out of the memory of sights and sounds present in nature.
