4. 4 Objective To develop and execute a plan to restock Penn Lake with various sizes and species of fish following the dam repair project To ensure survival of a healthy feeding and breeding habitat

5. 5 Restocking Plan The plan focuses on 3 main areas:  Stocking  Fundraising  Communications 2 year stocking plan  Careful balancing of fish ratios and populations over course of time  Valid research to support the plan

6. 6 Stocking Timeline Year 1:  3/31: Minows (3-5”)  4/21: Bluegills (3-5”)  4/21: Channel Catfish (5-7”), Calico Bass  5/19: 275 Large mouth bass (10-12”) Population monitoring Year 2:  275 Northern Bass  Population Monitoring

7. 7 Background & Considerations Loading rates  How many fish per acre can a 50+/- acre lake sustain Balance of feed fish versus game fish Existing fish population  Re-Location of fish from other bodies of water into the lake

8. 8 Considerations Continued… Tradeoff between time and money  Repopulation of lake naturally over time (did not consider)  Spend substantial sums on mature fish and feed to restore quality fishing in year 1 The group agreed to take a longer term and more economical approach

9. 9 Considerations Continued… Involve kids on stocking days Researching the building of "breeding racks“ Possibility of an "algae bloom" that some of the authorities have said will probably occur  This is normal in a situation like this

10. 10 Fundraising Plan Estimated cost of stocking: $9700 A contribution request will be made to the borough  please be generous Contributions requested with Association dues letter Early results look good  $800 in donations received from dues letter  Folks are interested and are being generous
