Speed > 40km/h, then the train’s emergency brake is applied. The train passes the sign, then it will be brought to a complete stop. BELGIUM: WHERE ETCS IS A PRIORITY The ETCS Master Plan includes a combination of 3 pillars: PILLAR 1 ETCS 1 (Version 2.3.0.d) Information transfer from track to train one way via balises Roll-out 2012-2022 Core network ETCS 2 (Version 2.3.0.d) Information exchange from track to train and vice versa via GSM-R Roll-out 2015-2022 Core network ETCS Limited Supervision (Baseline 3) ‘A la carte’ solution enabling selection of all functionalities that need to be implemented Information is forwarded via balises Roll-out 2018-2022 Secondary network PILLAR 2PILLAR 3
