Chapter 8 Lesson 1 Jesus’ Mission
2
What is a mission? A mission is a task or duty, usually involving being sent somewhere to do something. Missionaries are sent into different parts of the world to bring the Gospel to people who do not yet know the fullness of God’s truth.
3
Jesus also had a mission. He came to redeem man. The Father sent the Son for this saving mission. Jesus came to do the Father’s will. He perfectly reveals to us the Father and his loving plan.
4
Turn to page 52 in your textbook. Some people imagine God as a policeman or judge. God is infinitely just, but he is also infinitely loving and compassionate (Jn 3:17). Why did God send his only Son into the world? Using bible verses in the first six paragraphs of this chapter, prove that Jesus did everything out of love for his Father.
5
How is God the Father like Abraham and Jesus like Isaac? God promised to bless all nations through Abraham’s descendants. What is this blessing? Read Ps 133:3. How is this accomplished in Jesus Christ?
6
Jesus was sent with a threefold mission: Priest, Prophet and King Priest: offered Himself in sacrifice to the Father Prophet: taught God’s truth King: came to start the Kingdom of God on earth.
7
Jesus is faithful to the will of the Father. How can we follow Jesus’ example and do God’s will? God has a specific plan for each of us. Write about God’s plan for your life and how you will respond.

Basic Trinitarian theology: All Three Persons are God and share the Divine Nature, but are distinct form one another All Three Persons are equal-no one is greater than another and each shares the Divine Attributes All Three Persons are eternal The Three Persons are distinguished by their relationships to each other: The Father is unbegotten; The Son is begotten of the Father; the Spirit proceeds from both the Father and the Son The Father created through the Son in the Holy Spirit The son became man in the Divine Person of Jesus Christ; he is eternally begotten of the Father and was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit The Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit, who spoke through the prophets and is worshiped and glorified with the Father and the Son
