David loved God’s Word It was constantly on his mind – Psalm 119:97- 103 Jesus loved the Word of God, as evident by His frequent quotation of it Especially during His temptation – Matt. 4:4, 7, 10 Do we love God’s Word? Do we hide it in our heart? – Psalm 119:9-11

David loved to pray He knew God answered him – Psalm 116:1-2 Jesus, too, was a man of prayer – Luke 5:16 How is our love for prayer? Is it a source of great peace? – Phil. 4:4-7 Do we pray without ceasing? – 1 Thess. 5:17

David loved unity among brethren He recognized the value of friendship – Psalm 133 This was exemplified in his friendship with Jonathan Christ also loved unity Even dying on the cross to make it so – Eph. 2:13-16 Are we striving for unity with our brethren?

David hated every false way Because God’s precepts taught him – Psalm 119:104 Jesus hated error and falseness – Matt. 23:13-22 He would not allow their hypocrisy to stand! What is our attitude, compromising or firm in our resolve?

Being called “after God’s own heart” is truly a great compliment. However it does not come easily; rather, we must work towards it, constantly looking to God’s Word and examining ourselves. Do we have the right attitudes?
