1 Sam. 13:13-14

 David loved God’s Word  It was constantly on his mind – Psalm 119:97- 103  Jesus loved the Word of God, as evident by His frequent quotation of it  Especially during His temptation – Matt. 4:4, 7, 10  Do we love God’s Word?  Do we hide it in our heart? – Psalm 119:9-11

 David loved to pray  He knew God answered him – Psalm 116:1-2  Jesus, too, was a man of prayer – Luke 5:16  How is our love for prayer?  Is it a source of great peace? – Phil. 4:4-7  Do we pray without ceasing? – 1 Thess. 5:17

 David loved unity among brethren  He recognized the value of friendship – Psalm 133  This was exemplified in his friendship with Jonathan  Christ also loved unity  Even dying on the cross to make it so – Eph. 2:13-16  Are we striving for unity with our brethren?

 David hated every false way  Because God’s precepts taught him – Psalm 119:104  Jesus hated error and falseness – Matt. 23:13-22  He would not allow their hypocrisy to stand!  What is our attitude, compromising or firm in our resolve?

Being called “after God’s own heart” is truly a great compliment. However it does not come easily; rather, we must work towards it, constantly looking to God’s Word and examining ourselves. Do we have the right attitudes?

What kind of attitudes do you possess? Is that pleasing to God? If you have any questions or comments on this lesson, please send a message to: minister@truthandright.org
