Lesson Menu Five-Minute Check (over Lesson 6–3) Main Idea and Vocabulary Example 1:Name Points Using Ordered Pairs Example 2:Name Points Using Ordered Pairs Example 3:Real-World Example

Main Idea/Vocabulary I will name points on a coordinate grid. coordinate grid origin ordered pair x-coordinate y-coordinate

Example 1 Name Points Using Ordered Pairs Name the ordered pair for point D. Step 2 Move up until you reach point D. The y-coordinate is 5. Step 1 Start at the origin (0, 0). Move right along the x-axis until you are under point D. The x-coordinate of the ordered pair is 3. Answer: So, point D is named by the ordered pair (3, 5).

1.A 2.B 3.C 4.D Example 1 A.(5, 1) B.(2, 3) C.(1, 5) D.(1, 6) Name the ordered pair for point Q.

Example 2 Name Points Using Ordered Pairs Name the point for the ordered pair (2, 2). Step 2 Move up until you reach 2, the y-coordinate. Step 1 Start at the origin (0, 0). Move right along the x-axis until you reach 2, the x-coordinate. Answer: So, point E is named by the ordered pair (2, 2).

1.A 2.B 3.C 4.D Example 2 B. R A. Q Name the point for the ordered pair (4, 6). C. S D. T

Example 3 Name the location of Julie’s house. Step 2 Move up until you reach Julie’s house. The y-coordinate is 2. Step 1 Start at the origin (0, 0). Move right along the x-axis until you are under Julie’s house. The x-coordinate is 6. Answer: So, Julie’s house is located at (6, 2).

1.A 2.B 3.C 4.D Example 3 A.(1, 5) B.(5, 1) C.(6, 4) D.(3, 3) Name the location of point T.
