Math Homework Study Links pg. 135 Individuals: Homework WS ready to check. You will need your journal for today’s class. Tuesday, January 13 th

Target/Objective: I can use ordered pairs of numbers to locate points on a grid and map. Unit 6: Lesson 8

Drawing Angles Practice Drawing Angles Worksheet – Pass out worksheet and geometry template Let’s practice drawing the first angle with our half-circle protractor. Complete the remaining problems; checking your work with your shoulder partner. Early Finishers: Measure the opposite angle of which you drew. Make sure both angles together equal 360°.

Math Message In your journal, turn to page 161. Using the map of Ireland, find the city of Tralee on the map. Be prepared to explain how you found it.

Using the letter- number pair method is helpful because it limits the search to a small part of the map.

Math Vocabulary Every point on a rectangular coordinate grid can be named by an ordered pair of numbers. The two numbers that make up an ordered pair are called the coordinates of the point. When naming coordinates, the first coordinate is always the horizontal (x-axis) point and the second coordinate is always the vertical (y-axis) point. 0 (9, 8) (1, 4) (8, 9)

Turn to Journal pg. 162 This map has been drawn on a rectangular coordinate grid. It also has all of the standard symbols on it. We can locate certain areas by naming the ordered pair. Let’s try a few together.

Finding Distances & Using Ordered Pairs Journal pg. 163 – Notice that each side of the grid square represents 0.2 kilometers. – Work with your shoulder partner to check your answers. Early Finishers: Math Boxes pg. 160

Dartboard Angles Independently, complete pg. 163A-163B Use your protractor. Check your work with your shoulder partner. Early Finishers: Complete all Math Boxes for Unit 6. Voice Level: 1 Time: End of Class

Wrap Up! Did we achieve our target/objective? – I can use ordered pairs of numbers to locate points on a grid and map. Individuals: Get ready to move classes!
