PROSPECTIVE CHOREOGRAPHER MEETING MCDE Spring 2013

AUDITIONS EVERY prospective choreographer MUST audition Seniors and past choreographers are NOT automatically chosen Audition process Panel consisting of the President, VP (and shadows) and our Production Manager Show 30 seconds of choreography Teach the President 8 counts of choreography

AUDITION INFORMATION Sunday January 27 th from 4pm-10pm in Donnelly 236 Monday January 28 th from 9pm-11pm in Donnelly 236 Time slots are in 10 minute intervals. Sign up at the end of the meeting. Dances will be chosen by the end of the day January 29 th and will be posted to the website by January 30 th. Everything up for General Meeting on January 31 st Classes start Sunday February 3 rd

CRITERIA 3:00 minute MAX 24 dancers MIN Sunday dances lose one class due to Spring Break, possibly 2 if you don’t hold class the Sunday we get back (up to you) and lose Easter Sunday Sunday classes have first pick for extra rehearsal 9 WEEKS OF CLASSES !

STRIKE SYSTEM It is very important that you hand in the information we ask from you ON TIME Failure you to do this will result in a strike Three strikes and you will not be allowed to choreograph in the following semester You will receive an email from the President when you get a strike and must respond

STRIKES Failure to respond to all the emails you get from dancers wanting to be in your dance Failure to send the club account your roster whenever it is due after sign ups and again after the choreographer meeting Failure to attend ALL choreographer meetings Failure to tell Murano your costume and whether you will use storage Using a costumes that was not approved Failure to give Murano a copy of your music on time Numerous complaints regarding your class from dancers

PLAGIARISM No tolerance for Plagiarism You are not allowed to take choreography from anywhere If you do use choreography that is not yours, you will no longer be allowed to choreograph for the club

STEREOS Choreographers will be held responsible if a stereo is found broken Please use the stereo designated to the studio you are in Please contact a board member IMMEDIATELY if a stereo is found broken If you see someone who is not a choreographer using the stereo please contact Erin Choreographers are not allowed to use the stereos for extra practice (such as in the racquetball courts)

RACQUETBALL COURTS NOT solely for our purpose The board has no control over who is in there and when You are not allowed to call and book the racquetball courts, you are taking a chance if you chose to have an extra practice in them If you would like to have an extra practice in the aerobic studio, please contact Erin

COSTUMES Last semester’s costumes were great! Please continue to think creatively! Keep it classy! Think colors Ways to get costumes Storage $10 from your dancers MAX wholesalefashionsquare.com DO NOT tell your dancers their costumes until it is okayed by Murano There will be a choreographer meeting at the beginning of March where you must present your costume Murano’s email: Dana.Murano1@marist.edu

MUSIC MUST BE APPROPRIATE If you are unsure about it, you probably shouldn’t use it Music will be due at the choreographer meeting in March Music can be the reason why you do not get selected to choreograph if: Its inappropriate Its been used in the past Too many songs by the same artist Someone else is using it

DANCERS NOT GETTING INTO DANCES Please be open to accepting more dancers into your dance if you receive an email from me about people not getting into any dance There will be a minimum of 24 dancers in each dance and I will still probably (most likely) ask you to take more dancers 6 dances MAX per dancer “Waiting List” PLEASE DO NOT START A WAITING LIST FOR YOUR DANCE UNTIL I GIVE YOU THE OKAY THAT ALL DANCERS OFF THE GENERAL WAITING LIST HAVE BEEN PLACED!
