Mobile Communication MMS
2
Mobile Communication The MM7 interface enables interactions between Value Added Service applications and an MMSC. The technical realization is based on Understanding MM7 Interface Simple Object Access Protocol with HTTP at the transport layer. Figure shows a typical network configuration allowing VAS applications and the MMSC play dual roles of sender and receiver of SOAP messages.
3
Mobile Communication Understanding MM7 Interface As for interfaces, each operation invoked over the MM7 interface is composed of a request and a corresponding response. HTTP-Level mechanisms can be used in order to authenticate parties communicating over the MM7 interface Additionally messages over the MM7 interface can be transported over TLS to ensure confidentiality between communicating parties

Mobile Communication Understanding MM7 Interface The support of MM& is optional for the MMSC. However if such an interface is supported, then the message submission, message delivery, operations related to the provision of delivery reports and the management of errors are mandatory operations to be supported by the MMSC. The support of operations such as message cancellation, replacement and read-reply reports are optional for the MMSC.

The support of operations such as message cancellation, replacement and read-reply reports are optional for the MMSC. The TWO addressing modes, MSISDN and Email Address, can be used to identify entities communicating over the MM7 interface. Communicating entities include MMS user agents, VAS applications and MMSC.
6
Mobile Communication Understanding MM7 Interface Message Submission: In the context of VAS, message submission refers to the submission of a message from an originator VAS application to an MMSC. This message is addressed to a single recipient, multiple recipients or to a distribution list managed by the MMSC. If the MMSC accepts the submission request, then the MMSC sends back a positive response. This indicates that the submission request has been accepted but does not indicate that the message has been successfully delivered.
7
Mobile Communication Understanding MM7 Interface Message Delivery: In the context of VAS, message delivery refers to the delivery of a multimedia message from the MMSC to a VAS application. The MMSC may deliver the message to the VAS application along with a linked identification. This identification can be conveyed as part of a subsequent message submission from the VAS application to indicate that the submitted message is related to a previously delivered message.
8
Mobile Communication Understanding MM7 Interface Message Cancellation: In the context of VAS, message cancellation refers to the possibility for a VAS application to cancel a previously submitted multimedia message prior to its delivery. Upon receipt of a cancellation request, the MMSC cancels the delivery of the associated message to all message recipients to which the associated notification has not yet been sent out.
9
Mobile Communication Understanding MM7 Interface Message Replacement: In the context of VAS, message replacement refers to the possibility for a VAS application to replace a previously submitted multimedia message prior to its delivery. Upon receipt of such a replacement request, the MMSC replaces the previously submitted message with the new message specified as part of the replacement request.
10
Mobile Communication Understanding MM7 Interface Delivery Report: In the context of VAS, a VAS application has the ability to request, as part of a message submission request, the generation of a delivery report. In case the message was submitted to multiple recipients, then several delivery reports may be received by the originator VAS application.
