3 Collection of Items Regular review of journals and magazines; editorial re-appointments and search committees Considering new proposals: – Journal proposals – Proposal to revive book publishing – Open access proposals

4 J. of Social Computing Pubs Board interest in developing such a journal – Two separate but incomplete proposals for Trans. – Need to bring together a very diverse community – Exploring the creation/funding of a workshop to bring community together to explore publication; perhaps create journal proposal – If there are community segments/possible participants, please e-mail me

5 Plagiarism Detection Serious Problem – Much better when caught before publication – Policy/education – finalizing memo to program chairs summarizing relevant policies and how to react – Technology – implementing CrossRef-based detection for journals; how well would this work for conferences (how many different systems)?

6 Mea Culpa Work on metadata review delayed, but will resume; still interested in volunteers (those that already have, I have).
