While-Reading Activity A As you read the text, find the answers to the questions at the side of the text. BUTTERWORTH, Sat: Many people living in Kampung Tanjung are unhappy. They complain that their village is now dirty and noisy. A new factory, located in an industrial area, just outside the village is the main cause of the problem. Before this, the village was clean and quiet. It was also peaceful. En. Amin, The village headman, said that the noise from the factory was too loud. “We cannot even hear our radio and television because of the noise.” Puan Raziah, a housewife, complained that her house was always dusty. “The dust from the factory settles all over the sitting room. Even the food we put on the table is quickly covered with dust.” she said. The Residents’ Welfare Committee called for a meeting of the villagers to discuss the problem. They distributed leaflets to encourage the villagers to attend the meeting. The committee reported the problem to the District Officer. The village headman said that they would be thankful if the people in charge would help them to overcome their problems. How was the village before the factory was built?
