How a Bill Becomes a Law 1. The senate or house writes a bill. 2.They vote on the bill. 3. The bill goes to the President. 4. The president approves=bill becomes a law. 5. The president vetoes= the process starts over.

Senate Each state has two senators with 6 year terms. Qualifications 1.At least 30 years old 2.A U.S. citizen for at least 9 years 3. A resident of the state from which the candidate seeks election.

House of Representatives The number of representatives is based on the population of the state in the 2 year terms. Alabama has 7 representatives. California has 53 representatives. Alaska, Delaware, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming have 1 representative. The Qualifications to be a representative are: Must be at least 25 years old. Must be a U.S. citizen for at least 7 years. Must be a resident of the state the candidate seeks election.

Supreme Court The Supreme Court has 9 members: a chief justice and 8 associate justices.

Job Description -Interpret laws -Protect the rights and liberties of everyone -The Supreme Court has the power to decide whether a federal or state law or action by the president is constitutional.

Term Length -J-Justices may remain in office for life. -J-Justices are picked by the president and approved by the senate.
