4 What is an Ecozone? Using ecozones to study the land helps us to understand the interconnections among natural & human systems. Canada has 15 ecozones - divided into 47 eco-provinces - further subdivided into 177 eco-regions - broken into 5395 eco-districts There are also 5 marine ecozones around Canada

7 Why Study Ecozones? Ecozones are useful for studying the land. They help us understand… the interconnections among natural and human systems see humans as an essential part of the Earth ’ s ecosystem, rather than separate from it they are based on the combination of several characteristics: landforms, climate, soil, vegetation, wildlife & patterns of human activity
