The MANSCEN and FLW Equal Opportunity office would like to take a moment to discuss the term EXODUS. As many of us here in Fort Leonard Wood know, the term Exodus reminds us that is once again a time to ship trainees out to their friends and families regardless of their associated beliefs. As we enter into this season, remember to consider all religious practices now and in the upcoming year. According to AR 600-20, 5-6 The Army places a high value on the rights of its Soldiers to observe tenets of their respective religious faiths. All religious accommodations must be reviewed by your commander. Exodus is the second book of the Torah, the Tanakh, and the Old Testament. The major events of the book concern the Exodus, a departure of Hebrew slaves from Egypt under the leadership of Moses. Jews call the book by its first words Ve-eleh shemoth (Hebrew:) (i.e., "And these are the names") or simply "Shemoth" The Septuagint designates the second book of the Pentateuch as "Exodus" (Greek:), meaning "departure" or "out-going". The Latin translation adopted the name, which passed into other languages. In modern history: Operation Exodus was the Allied operation to bring back European prisoners of War to Britain in Second World War. It began in May 1945 and completed in August of that year. Notification and Federal Employee Anti- Discrimination and Retaliation Act of 2002 (No FEAR Act - Public Law No. 107-174) requires all federal civilian employees receive/complete training.
