Major Causes of the Great Depression 1. Hawley-Smoot Tarriff Act Caused trade to fall 40% 2. Crisis in farm sector demand high during WWI (farmers took out huge loans for seed/equipment) after WWI demand fell 40% actually planted more crops in response to get more money (Bad idea)
