2 BOILER COMMISIONNING COAL SILO Problem As the space for erection of the silo was very narrow,the construction was modified to Non symetric form. Consequence Unbalanced level and segregation of coal size resulting in bad spreading on the grate. Solution -Installation of Level sensors and automization of the SILO feed system -Reduce the Elapse Time of SILO Top up COAL FEEDER SCREW TYPE Problem:The design length of coal feeders were too long. Consequence:Uneven Feed of the boiler/Coal dust choked on the blades/Rapid wear of the blades. Solution :Shorten the design Length and modified angle of positioning.

3 BOILER OPERATIONS BAGASSE FEEDERS Problem: Rapid wear of the Drive drums spikes Consequence: Iregular feeding of the boiler Solution: Hardfacing of the spikes edges every year SOOTBLOWERS Problem: Lamination of boiler tubes during Sootblowing Consequence:Unusual wears of tubes causing leaks Solution : Tubes realignment & fixing of steel shield as protection ID FAN Problem: Carry over of bagasse Ash on the id fan Consequence: Unbalanced Rotor of id fan/Vibrations of Bearings Solution : On line cleaning with Water jet pressure/or if possible STOP for cleaning STEAM PRESSURE STABILIZING Problem: As the 2 Boilers are linked on the same Steam Line for a better efficiency while running on Bagasse,any change in Bagasse feed quality unbalanced the HP pressure & Water Levels. Consequence: HP Pressure drops and worst tripping of the boiler & Turbine Solution : Review of Bagasse Handling system /Byassing of Feeders and coal feed as back up.

4 TURBO ALTERNATORGROUP COMMISSIONING TURBINE Problem: Extraction control Valve blocked Consequence: Unsufficient Extraction Steam Solution:Dismantle the Turbine for investigation & repairs.

5 TURBO ALTERNATORGROUP OPERATIONS TURBINE Consequence: Drop of Vaccum pressure Problem: After very long investigation,a fine crack was discovered in a welding of the TURBINE/CONDENSOR transition part Solution:Repairs Welding & Xrays of all Weldings
