What you may already know about the CCHS Library? Name of the Librarian? The library is open after school. Do you know when? The location of non-fiction books? Fiction? Reference? Magazines? How to find a book in the library? How to check out a book?

What you need to know about the CCHS Library. Respectful behavior is expected. ID’s and completed Internet Acceptable Use Policies (AUPs) are required to use computers. Once you have returned your “AUP” you will be given a username and password for computer access. You may need to come to the library to get your assigned password. Do not share your password.

What else you need to know… Print responsibly – use print preview, copy & paste, or select…Chicopee schools use over 22 million pieces of paper per year. Please do not bring your backpacks to the computers. Leave them near the entrance or on the tables.

Students should be working on school related projects when they are in library. Anyone accessing inappropriate sites or fooling around will be asked to leave the library. Study hall students need a pass from their subject teacher, and must sign in at the desk.

SAVING YOUR WORK All school computers reset and erase everything on the hard drive each night. Use Google Docs to save, email or share a paper you are writing.Google Docs Use delicious.com to bookmark a list of websitesdelicious.com Use “file – save as” to save you work to your ID folder on the network. Bring your own flash drive to save your work.

What you should know about email. The IT Dept. blocks some email accounts. To send/receive an assignment via email use: Gmail or your teacher’s school account (k12). Ex: scrowther@chicopee.k12.ma.usscrowther@chicopee.k12.ma.us When doing research use library subscription databases. They will allow an article to be sent to any email and give you source citations. Create an account in EasyBib to save your research resources and make citations.EasyBib

What other resources are available in the library? Credible Subject Specific Databases o Magazine, newspaper and reference book articles from 1960 – present o Resources for Podcasts, audio & streaming video CCHS yearbooks from 1964 to present

What is a library database? Resources for your assignments that contain credible information. They provide the user with an MLA source citation for creating a bibliography. Use a database when your assignment requires a primary source, newspaper, or magazine article. These articles can be emailed to you or saved in a personal folder. All of the CCHS Library databases are available through the library webpage.
