And follow these directions: Write each sentence and underline every noun in each sentence. 1. New Mexico achieved statehood in the early twentieth century. 2. Santa Fe is the capital of this southwestern state. *Note: A noun is a person, place, or thing.

Read the paragraph and list any nouns you find ( you may work with a partner next to you.) Despite the blue sky and the greenery, the island does not seem welcoming. The jagged mountains seem in hospitable to human life, the shore seems too small to permit a safe landing, and a deep shadow falls across much of the island. These details combine to create a rather forbidding mood that contrasts with the calm blue sea and the puffy white clouds.

You also get a 100 at the end of the week for having all of your bell-work, notes, and exit tickets for that week. You also get 5 extra credit points on your quiz for Friday!
