1. Gerrymandering: This deliberate drawing of district lines to favor the political party that is in power.

2. Franking privilege: the franking privilege is meant to help legislators keep in touch with the people they represent. They do not have to use a stamp to mail letters. They just sign their name.

3. Congressional immunity: or freedom from arrest. Senators and Representatives cannot be placed under arrest while conducting legislative duties.

4. Censure: The house may vote to censure, or express disapproval of the member. In extreme cases, the house may vote to expel the member, or force the member from office.

5. Expressed Powers: Expressed powers are those powers that are written, or listed, in the Constitution. Most of the expressed powers given to Congress are in section 8 of Article 1

6. Implied Powers: in addition to expressed powers, the Constitution allows Congress to exercise implied powers. These powers are based on the last clause of Article 1, Section 8, sometimes called the Necessary and Proper Clause.
