Introduction Description of the hazard and area you are discussing. The area should be a community (town, city, or county) where you live or where you might like to live. Explain why you choose this hazard Use pictures & maps

Body of the report Description & history of hazard Likelihood hazard will occur Consequences of hazard How hazard is currently being addressed How you think the hazard should be addressed

Description of hazard What is it? Linkages to other hazards Historical occurrences Use pictures & maps & charts

Probability What is the likelihood that this hazard will impact your community? Include several different magnitudes and the probability of each. May include a “worst case scenario” Include maps, charts, graphs, etc.,

Consequences Explain what would happen if the hazard hit your community. Use examples from past events. Describe vulnerable areas. Describe how the hazard is linked to other hazards in the area. Illustrate with maps, photos, etc.

Describe how the hazard is currently addressed Describe the current plans in place should this hazard take place. Contact the local emergency response agencies to see what they plan to do. Describe structures, planning maps, and other responses to the hazard. Explain what you think are the good and bad points of the current plan.

How should the hazard be addressed? What else could/should the community do to address the hazard. Explain why you think this would be an improvement. Relate your recommendations to what you have learned in the class.

Summary Describe you lost important & most interesting findings Describe the impact this report has had on you.

Depth of information presented More than a cursory examination of the topic Research provided interesting information beyond that of the textbook Exploration means that you have looked into all of the areas relevant to your project area The project must be focused on a community (city, town, or rural area of a county).

References present All facts must be referenced References must support the information presented References must be called out from the text. References cited page Should use a common format (ie. MLA or APA)

Visual elements Support the presentation Called out from the text Clear and easy to understand Pictures, maps, charts & graphs are all useful

Presentation Eight slides maximum! – Location – Description of hazard – Your most important findings – Conclusions Inlcude pictures, maps, charts, etc.
