What is History? O Political – Government O Economic – Agriculture, Industry, and Trade O Social – Everyday life and Culture

Why study History? O History is the best way to learn how to think analytically O The world is not black and white, there are a lot of grey areas and multiple answers to questions – Which is the right one???? O History teaches you how to articulate yourself O If you cant express yourself, no one will hear you O History tells us who we are – How can you think forward without looking back? O Not just names and dates O Many of our leaders look back into history to think forward O History RHYMES not repeats

What is World History? O Wide lens O Interconnection O Thematic not Chronological O Small Communities O Different Points of View O Why is the world the way it is? O What are some elements of a great movie? O History is BEST MOVIE EVER!!!!

Why Teach World History? O I LOVE HISTORY! O We live in Global Society O Where are your clothes, food, electronics, etc. produced? O We are all from different areas of the globe O You will be entering a Global Society O What are some problems we are facing?

Why Study History O Read and annotate the essay O How could you convince someone the study is important and valuable? – Thesis Statement O Use three specific exams from the article (without quoting) O You are encouraged to incorporate your own personal and school-related experiences
