Types of angles Properties and definitions Examples

Terms of Angles Angle is formed by 2 rays that have a common endpoint Rays – sides of the angle Vertex – common endpoint of the rays Measure of an angle – smallest amount of rotation between sides, measure in degrees Reflex Measure of an angle – largest amount of rotation between sides
4
More Terms with Angles Congruent Angles – have exact same angle measure Bisect and Angle – draw another ray that cuts the angle into 2 congruent angles Incoming Angle – Angle formed by the cushion and path of the ball (smaller of the angles) Outgoing Angle – angle formed by the cushion and path of the ball Outgoing angles in congruent to incoming angle Pg 41 Virtual Math
5
General Types of Angles Come up with a general definition for the following types of angles pg 49 Right Angle Acute Angle Obtuse Angle Straight Angle Angle that measures exactly 90 degrees Angle that measures less than 90 but greater than 0 degrees Angle that is great than 90 but less than 180 degrees Angle that measures exactly 180 degrees
6
Properties of Angles Define the following pg 50 Complementary Angles Supplementary Angles Vertical Angles Linear Pairs Two angles that add to 180 degrees Two angles that add to 90 degrees Two angles formed when two lines cross, opposite each other and congruent, do not share a side A pair of angles that are adjacent and supplementary, must share a side and vertex
