The Tundra is located in the northern hemisphere of the world, in Alaska, Canada and parts of Greenland.

The climate in the northern American tundra is very cold most of the time. Average temperature is less than 5 degrees Celsius and the tundra gets less than 100 mm of snow per year. The summer last only a few months and temperature is above freezing The tundra has short summers that last only a few weeks, but the temperature is above freezing during this time
4
Most common plants found in the tundra are willows, and different grasses. Many plants have the same growth characteristics, they tend to grow close to the ground. In the tundra plants grow in dwarf sizes compared to other plants in warmer climates.
5
Some animals that live in the tundra are arctic fox, caribou, snowy owl, grizzly bear, polar bear and musk ox Animals adapt to the life in the tundra by growing long heavy fur to keep them warm in the cold weather The caribou and Reindeer both live in the tundra, but the Caribou lives in the northern tundra and has not been domesticated while the Reindeer lives up by Russia and has been domesticated and is herded by people
7
In the summer there are 24 hour days of sunlight, allowing plants to photosynthesize all day long for the short summers the tundra has. The short summers and 24 hour sunlight leads to rapid growth of plants in the tundra. Many birds will migrate to the tundra from the south to reduce the competition for food, in the tundra there are plenty amounts of insects for birds to eat.
