2 The chapter’s is to give details about what workers in the meat packing industry deal with. The harsh conditions that everyone must deal with comes very apparent in this chapter. Explaining why the meat packing industry is one of the most dangerous jobs in the United States.

3  Most considerable point is that instead of having robots do precision cutting and packing, the labor is done by humans.  This poses a major issue due to the extreme heat, damaging sound, and blurry vision  Such conditions are only worsened by pressure created by stress.  Most common is lacerations. Employees commonly stab themselves or people nearby. Tendinitis and cumulative trauma disorders are common.  Other problems: back/shoulder problems, carpal tunnel, trigger finger

4  Slaughterhouses have not had any significant changes to them (in terms of processes or sanitation) in years. The processes are still barbaric and highly insanitary.  Meatpacking is the most dangerous job in the United States, with an injury rate three times higher than typical American factory jobs.  Death rate among sanitation workers is extraordinarily high

5  Because of the high temperature and humidity, safety glasses fog up and vision can drop to as little as five feet.  Workers are strongly encouraged not to go to the doctor so that the companies will not get caught disregarding the majority of work injuries.  It is encouraged not to report injuries because supervisor bonuses are partly based upon the number of injuries.
