Facts about rivers A river is an flow of water that flows into the sea. Rivers are an important part of the water cycle. Sometimes rivers aren’t strait forward they meander Most rivers are freshwater. There are 165 major rivers in the world.

How big is the River Mississippi? The river Mississippi is 3,734Km. The river Mississippi ranks the 4 th longest and 10 th largest river in the world. More than 170 bridges (foot and railroad)span the Mississippi river on it’s journey from the source to mouth.
