College Live in Lee Hall Freshman, Business Management Major Plan on keeping major Was being recruited by D-III schools for football but chose VT instead Felt at home when touring campus and fell in love with the school. So far, I really like the campus and school, but there definitely are major adjustments that I’m having to make.

Something Unique Each year since middle school, I have written an extensive preview of the NFL Draft called the NFL Draft Prospectus. My goal is to find a career in the football world, ideally in the NFL. I have been in contact with the VT football program about finding a job/volunteer opportunity that could get me involved with the program while pursuing my undergraduate degree. I plan on becoming a Graduate Assistant (hopefully here at Tech) and eventually going into Pro Scouting. My dream job is to become an NFL General Manager.

Football Football has pretty much dominated my entire life. As a child, I fully expected to one day play in the NFL I played WR in high school and was a team captain as a senior. Die hard Green Bay Packers fan

Chemistry Honestly, I have never been into science and have always considered it one of my least favorite subjects (hopefully that will change). I took Chemistry my sophomore year and had an unfortunate teaching situation where my original teacher left half way through the year. Two “permanent” substitutes later, I was basically handed an A but never felt like I learned a whole lot. I chose Chemistry because I heard good things about your class and because Chemistry interests me more than Biology and Earth’s Natural Hazards, which I was originally signed up for.

What I Expect From myself, I expect to continue to mature, both personally as a young adult and academically. I expect to have to work harder than I did in high school, but I expect myself to be able to manage all that is going on, improve my study habits, and maintain a high GPA. From this course, I expect to not only earn a good grade but to hopefully enjoy the content and truly learn more. Hopefully I will leave the class with a more favorable opinion on science than I currently have.

Response to The Con Newsweek I think McCardl brings up some good points. It is obvious that we, as a society, are always looking for an easy way out and want to wreak benefits without necessarily earning them. We, therefor, put too much trust in a potentially profitable opportunity and basically con ourselves by having unrealistic expectations.
