Important things to remember… All assignments/tests and quizzes must be: Linked Included in students’ grades Released to students In Sakai, these features are not automatic, so the settings must be correct.
3
Once the assignment is added, under assignment settings>grading. For new assignments, “Add Assignment to Gradebook” For assignments you already posted select “Associate with existing Gradebook entry” Do not add to gradebook for anything unscored.
4
Tests>Settings>Grading>Gradebook Options> Grades Sent to Gradebook Notes: The gradebook does not like duplicate names, so it will ask you to rename a test if there is a copy in the gradebook. The grades have to be sent to gradebook in the published copy, not the working copy of the test.
5
Two sets of tests and quizzes: Working copies-for changes made before being available to students, or for future course offerings Published copies-active, working tests available to students when the instructor makes available ***Make sure you are working in the correct copy!
6
Even if the assignment is in the gradebook, the scores will not be included in the grade, nor visible to students automatically. It may appear that your gradebook is fully populated, but a few more things are needed.
7
Double click on the item in question.
8
Must select Include in Grade and Release Score Check ‘Give ungraded no credit’ AFTER the due date…do not set up as default. The due date is in the assignment tab, so no worries if it says ‘optional’.
9
Any items in italic are NOT included in the total grade. Click on each italicized item and make sure it is included!
10
The students will not see a populated gradebook unless you select the fields you would like them to see….
11
Select names, course grades, and letter grade. Check which features you would like to see.
12
I added an assignment but it’s not showing up in the gradebook Check under the assignment settings and make sure the correct item is checked:
13
My students are saying they can’t see their test scores in the gradebook. Most likely, the ‘include in grade’ and ‘release score’ boxes are unchecked.
14
I made a change to the test or quiz, and now the score is not included in the grade. For any changes made to a published copy of a quiz or test, you need to click on the same settings again in the gradebook.
15
I have a duplicate item in the gradebook by accident…how do I get rid of it? Double click on the item in the gradebook, click delete, then save.
16
My gradebook is all jumbled and the assignments are not in order…what can I do? Beginning…click and drag each item to the position you want it. Advanced-create categories (another lesson!)
17
I added all the assignments, included them in the grade, and released the scores… I can see the assignments listed, but when I scroll on the students’ grades, they are not visible Check the side column in the gradebook and they will appear.
18
I need to excuse an assignment for a particular student. How do I do that and not have the assignment count in the grade? Click on the student’s name in the gradebook, then go to Excuses and check the assignment. The score will appear in red in the gradebook.
