5 MY CLASSES DEF – is the shortcut to DEFINE Categories/ASSESSMENTS SCORE – is the shortcut to SCORE ASSESSMENTS

6 DEFINE CATEGORIES Click on DEF for the course.

7 DEFINE CATEGORIES

8 DEFINE Categories – setup categories to use Assignments – setup assignments for each category IPR Averages – (for later discussion) RC Averages – (for later discussion) Attachments – for the course (like a syllabus). Click on one of the Tabs to select it.

11 CLICK in the box beside “Calculate Average Using Total Points” to select it. DEFINE CATEGORIES (Total Points earned / Total Points Possible)

12 DEFINE CATEGORIES Put a checkmark beside every category you wish to include. If you want to calculate averages using TOTAL POINTS, put a check in that box. (Total Points earned / Total Points Possible)

13 Setting up CATEGORIES Once you have selected a category, you will be required to complete the following:  Drop Lowest – select to drop the lowest scores  Exclude Missing – select a choice  Save or Cancel

14 SETUP ASSIGNMENTS Once Categories are defined, you can add ASSIGNMENTS. Click on the ASSIGNMENTS tab.

15 SETUP ASSIGNMENTS To setup an assignment, you must complete the following: Items marked with a red asterisk (*) are required fields.

16 SETUP ASSIGNMENTS Date Assigned - the date you created the assignment (not required) *Date Due – select a date the assignment will be due (must be in selected MP). * Category – select from the drop-down one of the categories you’ve setup. Items marked with a red asterisk (*) are required fields.

17 SETUP ASSIGNMENTS Items marked with a red asterisk (*) are required fields. Extra Credit - select from the drop-down whether assignment is extra credit. *Description – Type in a brief description of the assignment MORE – click the MORE button to type a more detailed description of the assignment then click OK.

18 SETUP ASSIGNMENTS Items marked with a red asterisk (*) are required fields. Points – enter the total number of possible points for the assignment * Weight –the relative weight of the assignment when calculating the average. Rubrics/Competencies – new (not yet available)

19 SETUP ASSIGNMENTS: PUBLISH Assignments & Scores for HAC Publish Item – check this box to allow this assignment & description to be viewed in HAC. Publish Scores – check this box to allow the student’s scores for this assignment to be viewed in HAC. Every assignment has two check boxes for inclusion in Home Access Center (HAC).

20 SETUP ASSIGNMENT: SAVE Click SAVE for this assignment.

21 EDIT/DELETE ASSIGNMENTS To edit the information about an assignment, click on the EDIT Button at the end of the row for the assignment. To delete an assignment, click the DELETE button at the end of the row for that assignment.

22 ATTACHMENTS Upload size limit is +/- 1MB These do not transfer to next year’s database. Are designed for access in Home Access Center (if published). Once you’ve saved an attachment, you can then attach documents. The FILES icon for each assignment allows you to attach a document to the assignment. Available in HAC.

23 ASSIGNMENTS This is a list of assignments in different categories.

24 COPY ASSIGNMENTS I teach multiple sections of the same course… Can I copy Assignments from one course-section to another? Yes, using the COPY ASSIGNMENTS function.

25 COPY ASSIGNMENTS At the top of the DEFINE ASSESSMENTS page, click COPY.

26 COPY ASSIGNMENTS The COPY Assignments function allows you to copy assignments/setup from one of YOUR courses to another or from one marking period to another. Sorry, you still can’t copy assessments from one teacher to another.

27 COPY ASSIGNMENTS The course information will appear at the top of the COPY screen. Verify before continuing.

28 COPY ASSIGNMENTS: Options Copy Direction: Copy Type:

29 COPY ASSIGNMENTS: Options Include Marking Periods: (check all that apply)

30 COPY ASSIGNMENTS: Options Click to select the “include” box for the course to put a checkmark in it.

31 COPY ASSIGNMENTS: Options The top row is where you want to copy FROM (source) The bottom section is where you want to copy TO (destination) Select M1, M2, M3 or M4 in the destination column for the source

32 COPY ASSIGNMENTS Now select which specific Assignments and Categories you wish to Copy. Click on the Box under the include column for each category and each assignment. Or click the All button for each.

33 COPY ASSIGNMENTS: Select ALL Click the ALL button to select all the Categories or click ALL the assignments in a Category.

34 COPY ASSIGNMENTS When you finish making your selections, click the COPY button (at the top or bottom of the screen)

35 COPY ASSIGNMENTS When the copy is finished, you will see this information message.

36 MY CLASSES DEF – is the shortcut to DEFINE Categories/ASSESSMENTS SCORE – is the shortcut to SCORE ASSESSMENTS

37 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS Click on SCORE for the course.

38 SCORE ASSESSMENTS For each student, you will give a score for each assignment

39 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS There is a TAB for each category you are using. And ALL.

40 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS By Default, you see only ACTIVE Students. If you want to see INACTIVE students you must check the box “Show Withdrawn Students”

41 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS By Default, you see all active students. You can choose to see only one row by checking the box “Show only selected row”. Ex. you want to call a student up to your desk and show him his scores (without seeing all the other students.)

42 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS MY CLASSES – takes you to your home page ASSIGNMENTS - takes you to SETUP ASSIGNMENTS page. PRINTABLE – click this to get a printout STUDENT DETAIL – Get a detailed report by student MISSING SCORES – shows who is missing scores STUDENT ALIASES – ignore

45 This is a PDF document that you can save or print.

46 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS: Missing Scores You can group by Student or Assignment Then click RUN.

47 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS: Missing Assignments The results of the Missing Assignments Report.

48 The Reports You’ve Run These are the reports (missing scores & student detail) that you’ve just run.

49 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS: Comment

50 SCORE ASSIGNMENT: DEFAULT GRADE Then Click ASSIGN

51 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS Add a STUDENT Note. (And the note can be “published” on Home Access Center Ex. “Student is tardy often it has affected grade.”

52 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS: Add a Note Add a comment for this student for THIS assignment.

53 SCORE ASSIGNMENTS: Average The current Student average: FOR THIS MARKING PERIOD.

60 AVERAGES AVERAGES – loading averages to Report Cards/IPRs is a complex procedure requiring the office to run some things. All teachers do not use the same grading methods (for calculating FINAL grade) which makes it very complex. Seaford is not using this at this time; but it is being reviewed for use. The only grade which will copy over from Gradebook at this time is the MP grade and Final.

61 TOTAL POINTS BOX If you are troubleshooting problems with your averages or grade calculations, this is the #1 spot to check. Check this box.
