Phase Diagrams Help you determine what phase of matter a substance will be at a given temperature and pressure solid, liquid, or gas
3
Phase Diagrams Draw / Label
4
Phase Diagrams – Draw / Label Melting / Freezing Boiling / Condensing Sublimation / Deposition
5
Label - PHASES
6
Label – PHASE CHANGES
7
Phase Diagrams *** Melting can also be called “fusion” - on a graph, “heat of fusion” references the melting point. [H fusion ] ***Boiling can also be called “vaporization” - on a graph, “heat of vaporization” references the boiling point [H vap ] Honors Only

Phase Diagrams – Draw Label

Phase Diagrams Triple Point – temperature and pressure at which a substance can either be a solid, a liquid, or a gas [ie, all three phases can exist simultaneously] on the graph – point at which all phase change slopes meet.
