Some interesting trivia… 1. Discovered in eleven caves 2. 1947 to 1956 3. Mostly fragments – about 1500 4. 500 intact manuscripts 5. Total scrolls found: about 825 to 870 6. Biblical (Old Testament) & non-biblical

7. Non-biblical scrolls contain writings on scripture, war, daily life 8. Written in Hebrew (mostly), Aramaic, some Greek 9. Scrolls were the library of a Jewish sect (Essenes) who lived like Jewish monks 10. Lived about 200 BC (BCE) to 68 AD (CE)

11. Library hidden from advancing Romans (the First Jewish Revolt) 66 to 70 CE 12. Possible Essenes were Zealots 13. Copper Scroll (cave 3) outlined 64 different hiding places in Israel
