Football Genius: A Novel By Tim Green
John Petrolias Period 5

Introduction

Why I Chose This Book I am a diehard sports fan. I enjoy nothing more than reading anything that involves the world of sports. The book is told from the views of a 12-year-old boy who goes through the same ways of life as most students in middle school, and athletes in the adolescent age who undergo pressure in games. This book is written by a former NFL All-Pro defensive end, who knows the game of football better than anyone. He explains the game clearly for those who are unfamiliar with the game.

Summary Football Genius is a realistic fictional novel about a 12-year-old boy named Troy White, who has an unbelievable talent unlike any other boy his age. Troy can watch a football game and see plays before they happen, no matter whether he’s predicting offensive or defensive plays. He plays for a local team known as the Duluth Tigers, with his best friends Tate (kicker), and Nathan (offensive line). Troy is the second string quarterback behind Jamie Renfro, the coach’s son, who is 10 times worse than Troy, and hates Troy’s beloved Atlanta Falcons.

Summary (cont.) Troy’s mom works in the PR dept. for the Atlanta Falcons, and gives Troy an opportunity to go onto the field and watch the game via an all-access pass. Troy predicted every play perfectly, but he had to tell someone what the opposing team, the Dallas Cowboys, were going to do offensively. He is then thrown out of the stadium for running onto the bench.
