DCS’S Substance Abuse Programme The Rehabilitation Unit Goal of Unit Empowerment of clients to enable their smooth re-entry into the society.

DATA 46 % of inmates are substance abusers 11.2 % of current inmate population is incarcerated on drug related charges

The Programme Has been in gestation stage since 2004 Is being developed with the assistance of OAS & NCDA Target group is all inmates serving 1-3 years & all juvenile offenders Pilot to be carried out at T.S.A.C.C.

Project Goal To prevent and minimize the incidence of Substance Abuse and provide a Treatment and Rehabilitation Support System for custodial clients of the DCS

Project Objectives To establish a Project Management Committee To conduct a Situational Analysis Exercise Use findings of Situation Analysis to design training programme Conduct designed training programme - 3 mths.

Project Objectives Plan intervention strategies to prevent/minimize the incidence of Substance Abuse and provide a treatment & rehabilitation support system
