VETERINARY RESPONSE CORP 157 VRC Members across the state 63 VRC-SART members Students at NCSU CVM and veterinary technical schools are credentialed when they graduate -ICS, Biosecurity, CAMET training, etc Registered through servNC

VRC DEPLOYMENTS Local interaction Set up colocation shelters in multiple counties during events Integrate with local CARTs State deployment potential during a large scale disaster Encourage to work locally during all events

THE FUTURE OF VRC Train with our NGO partners MOU with American Humane Train with counties and continue to integrate with EM, CARTs, Public Health, etc. Continue to integrate on the local level In the case of a large scale event state level deployment is possible

WHERE ARE THE CAMETS NOW? Most are owned by local Emergency Management EM is responsible for the maintenance of their units -CART trainings -yearly inventory review

WHO IS TRAINED TO USE THEM? Emergency Management Animal Control Cooperative Extension VRC/SART members Veterinary students Veterinary technical students

TAKE HOME MESSAGE: Update your CART resource list -personnel -CAMET -other resources and contacts VRC members already working with you on a local level Update your CART plan if you haven’t looked at it in awhile Lots of people are trained to use the CAMET, take advantage of them and know who in your county is ready to help you!

WHERE WE GO FROM HERE Bringing the VRC to locals -access to servNC registered VRC members for local EM Recruitment -create a recruitment template with county coordinators who know best how to recruit new members -continue to encourage more local involvement with EM at time of registration or when moving to another county -share with VRC members the new process through the newsletter and trainings
