Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Photoshop – Know your Tools Right Tool Choice: The ‘Stamp Tool’ is simple in concept but very powerful and flexible image manipulation tool. There are two kinds of stamp tools: 1.Clone stamp – visible icon. 2.Pattern stamp – hidden icon. Most Tools have at least 2 or 3 variations. Clicking on any specific tool will cause a choice list to ‘pop up’. The list will bullet-point the current tool choice such as the example, Healing Brush Tool.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Know your Tool – Options Tool Options: Set the tool as needed The tool options menu is directly below the main application menu. Clone stamp size can be changed by adjusting the Brush Size. It’s Opacity, and Aligned are also important characteristic to alter as needed. Your particular needs will determine each of the parameters.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Set your Tool Options Softer Edge Option: I tend to always use a soft (feathered) edge to my brush but the size will vary depending on the use. I use a small size for doing spotting work and a larger size when doing retouching work. I often use Brush Opacity set anywhere between 19 to 69% for retouch finishing work. And the ‘Aligned’ is usually turned on. These are some very generic starting point ideas. You must play with it to get the ‘feel’ for yourself.

Teacher: Kenji Tachibana Digital Photography I Photoshop Help – Use it Help Yourself: Once you know the correct term such as Clone Stamp or the Healing Brush, look it up in ‘Photoshop Help’. I also advise you to take the Photoshop Tutorial.
