3 External Commands3 The ACAD.PGP File u External Commands invoke functions that are not part of AutoCAD. u These external commands are defined in a file called acad.pgp (program parameters). u This file is placed in the AutoCAD \Support folder during the AutoCAD installation procedure.

8 8 AutoCAD External Commands u The first word is the command name which you type at AutoCAD’s Command: prompt to execute the command. u The second word represents the DOS command or program to be executed. u Each field is separated by a comma.

9 External Commands9 AutoCAD External Commands u EDIT. u The command. u START EDIT u The command or program name which is executed after the command name is typed.

10 External Commands10 AutoCAD External Commands u 1. u Bit flag value which specifies the way the program starts. u Begins an application but doesn’t wait for it to finish. u Other settings u wait for the application to finish u minimize the application.

12 External Commands12 The SH and SHELL Command u SH or SHELL is similar to the MS-DOS Command Prompt. u The following prompt appears: u OS Command: (Enter an external command or press [ENTER])

13 External Commands13 The SH and SHELL Command u SH or SHELL is similar to the MS-DOS Command Prompt. u Only one external command can be entered. u When the command is completed you are returned to AutoCAD. u Pressing [ENTER] at the OS Command: prompt opens an MS-DOS window.
