1
Motion a change in position in a certain amount of time.
a continuous change in position. when there is movement, there is motion.
2
Two Factors that would describe motion……
Speed Rate at which an object moves. Distance Time Velocity Used to describe both speed and direction of a moving object. Speed=
3
Two types of Motion Rectilinear Motion Motion in a straight line.
Circular Motion -when an object moves in Circular path. -two forces governs the movement of objects in circular path. 1. Centripetal force 2. Centrifugal force
4
Acceleration- the rate of change in velocity
Acceleration- the rate of change in velocity. Vf-Vi t a= acceleration Vi= initial velocity Vf= final velocity t= time a=
5
Momentum Depends on the mass of the object and the velocity with which it is travelling. M= mass * velocity
6
Newton’s Three Laws of Motion
Newton’s First Law: Law of Inertia -states that an object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain in motion at constant velocity unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. Newton’s Second Law: Law of Acceleration -shows how force and acceleration are related. F=ma
7
Newton’s Third Law: Law of Interaction
-states that in every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. - all forces comes in pairs.
