In fact research is a basic form of learning for students as for teachers,…..but it also has developped into specific forms of (scientific) collective learning research (S.Bolhuis, 2010) Research different goals: practitioners’ research versus academic theory-driven research Teaching and research demand a different mind set

5 ATEE august 2010 Pagina 5 Encouraging teachers to become research-active Teaching differs from researching in the organisation & application of knowledge different set of mind Teachers knowledge about teaching is mainly organized from a learners perspective, forms base for helping students understand specific concepts vs. Researchers organise their knowledge in order to allow them to know) what facts are already proven, what assumptions and hypotheses need further attention (Kirchin & Hay, 2007)

6 ATEE august 2010 Pagina 6 Encouraging teachers to become research-active 3 schools offered a trajectory to professionalise fully qualified and experienced teachers (experienced ‘eerstegraders’) In coöperation with Ruud de Moor Centrum OUNL 16 participants from 3 schools 13 joined project successfully

7 ATEE august 2010 Pagina 7 Encouraging teachers to become research-active Teachers were free to choose subject and research method - action research, - literature review, - evaluation research etc. Topics: –Improving motivation of HAVO-pupils – Profile developing for secondary education is to identify HAVO and VWO-stream. – New methods in the French language learning curriculum (AIM Accelerated Integrated Method) and implementation of European Reference in French –Update the care-structure in the school
