What is Academic Dishonesty? Academic honesty is: Cheating in any form. Submitting the same academic paper in different courses. Working with another student on an assignment that you should be doing alone. Doing another students work.

Being Academically Honest? You become academically honest by: Making a commitment to understand and to practice honesty. Reviewing your school’s guidelines for academic honesty. Asking questions when in doubt. Being truthful in all matters. Doing your work, and only your work.

What is Plagiarism? Plagiarism is: Using the work of another person without that person’s permission. Presenting the work of another person as though it were your own. Neglecting to give credit to your sources. Presenting your own work as if it were newly created—self-plagiarism

Plagiarize to steal (and pass off) the ideas or words of another as one’s own: use (another’s production) without crediting the source - merriam-webster.com

Avoiding Plagiarism You avoid plagiarism by: Giving credit to your source in the form of a citation in the body of your paper. Giving credit to your source in a full reference list at the end of your paper. Never presenting someone else’s work as your own. Never self-plagiarize by using your own previous work without giving credit.
