Data Outcomes From Post-Assessments
8
Post-Assessment Data Validation Data After the Focus Shift Revealed: -Our Focus to Improve in HY #5, #7 and #9 resulted in an increase in #5, #9 and #10 -Use of learning tools increased to support Higher Order Thinking -Applying discourse would require discussion of text, etc -PD is making a positive impact -Probable cause for HY evidence not being observed: -Amount of time in classrooms for informals -With GROR model being employed, student engagement may not be observable at times during the lesson, i.e.—explicit modeling (I Do) -Learning goals by students are set outside of the instructional block; therefore, they did not increase
9
Comparison Data Pre to Post Initial Observations
10
Next Steps for Data for SY 14-15 SURN observation tools will continue to be utilized because they align to our school-wide focus of increasing student discourse A focus will continue on HY practices 5,7 and 9 because they support high levels of comprehension Teachers who have been observed will continue to improve in areas where they had low yield practices and/or no-evidence of HY practices 5, 7, 9 Instructional Management Team will continue to discuss data to drive support of collaborative planning, PD, school education plan adjustment and correlation to formative assessments

Implementation Recommendations for SY 15-16 Summer Retreat -Deep Dive into Discourse with an increase in Accountable Talk, student choice, Shared Inquiry, Hands-On/Real World projects to Higher Order Thinking through exploration In-Service Week -Differentiated PD sessions led by staff members who are effective at the practice focus; Buy-in of 3 new foci by staff survey Peer Visits and Videotaping -With a specific focus on newly identified areas as well as current; upload of videos to the server for access by staff; spotlight of the week to be sent to all instructional staff
