MEASURING Units of measure for weight, dimensions, and temperature
2
MEASURING In the next few minutes we will learn how to measure using weight, dimensions, and temperature of different objects and materials. We will also discuss the measurement tools that we need to do this.
3
There are many words to describe dimensions. We use: length, width, height, long, short, wide, narrow, tall and taller to name a few.
4
We use a ruler or meter stick to measure the length, width, or height of something. The unit of measure for a ruler or a meter stick is in inches or centimeters.
5
During a visit to the Doctor’s, you are put on a scale and your weight is recorded for the Doctor to check.
6
A balance scale is used to measure food when you are cooking in the kitchen or when you are buying fresh produce at the market.
7
A thermometer is used to take your temperature when you are sick...
8
…Or it’s used to tell us what’s the temperature of the outdoors. The unit of measure for a thermometer is “Degrees” or “Celsius.”
