The Great Barrier Reef has lots of coral and is at the top of Australia. Fish sharks and octopuses and lots of other creatures live there.
3
Threats to the Reef
4
The coral is dying because of: Pollution global warming and the crown of thorns starfish. The crown of thorns is eating the coral polyps. The pollution is bad because the fish need clear water to grow. global warming makes the earth hotter and this warms up the ocean. The coral gets sick and loses there colour.
5
There are so many ways that we can help the Great Barrier Reef and these are some of the ways : Always put your rubbish in the bins and don’t use plastic bags that much.
6
Don’t put oil and paint down the sink
7
Use your car less so there is less pollution in the air

Tourism
9
A lot of people go and visit the Great Barrier Reef. Most people go out on a glass bottom boat or go onto a pontoon which has an underwater glass viewing area to see all the coral and creatures. Some people go scuba diving under the water.
10
When you are a tourist you should try to keep the reef safe by: Not putting rubbish in the water Don’t pick coral Make sure that the tourist boat takes all its rubbish and toilet waste back to land Listen to the marine biologist who gives you information on the tour. That's a person who study's the ocean and the things that live in it.
11
What will happen to the reef if we don’t look after our world?
12
Climate change is mostly caused by burning fossil fuels such as oil, coal and gas. Studies show that if we don’t stop burning these things the Great Barrier Reef will die within 100 years. If that happened almost everything that lived in the reef would die. All the fish, whales, dolphins, sharks, coral, birds would all die. The tourists wouldn’t come any more and lots of people would lose their jobs. We should all be able to see these beautiful things. It would be really sad if the coral died. We all have to help to keep the world clean.
