Hazard Mitigation Plans (HMPs) must be adopted & approved to demonstrate commitment to fulfilling plan objectives and to be eligible for mitigation funding The HMP review, adoption, and approval process requires specific sequential steps The NJ4 HMP is currently under review and will soon be ready for communities to adopt Adoption & Approval Process Workshop Context 4

SW LLC submitted draft documents from mid- December 2014 through mid-February NJOEM / FEMA conducting simultaneous review process at Sandy Recovery Office (SRO) and providing consolidated comments SW LLC will work with County and Municipal Working Groups to address review comments FEMA will designate NJ4 HMP as “Approvable Pending Adoption” (APA) NJ4 HMP Review Process Review Process Overview 12

December 22, 2014 – NJOEM / FEMA meeting re: work-in-progress, project status, et al January and February 2015 – Conference calls and correspondence re: work-in-progress February 23, 2015 –SW LLC met with NJOEM / FEMA to receive NJ4 HMP review comments. In summary: All parties were in general agreement about the direction and content of the NJ4 HMP NJ4 HMP Review Chronology Review Meeting Updates 16

February 23, 2015 NJOEM / FEMA meeting summary: NJOEM / FEMA will conduct initial review of Draft Regional Hazard Mitigation Plan with a target completion date of March 10 th Upon completion of review, comments will be shared with SW LLC and participating jurisdictions NJ4 HMP Review Chronology Review Meeting Updates 17

February 23, 2015 NJOEM / FEMA meeting summary: SW LLC will resubmit Draft Municipal Appendices if municipalities provided additional information since the current versions were submitted to NJOEM / FEMA NJOEM / FEMA will conduct initial reviews of Draft County and Municipal Appendices and will provide review comments to SW LLC and participating jurisdictions as available NJ4 HMP Review Chronology Review Meeting Updates 18

Once APA is designated, it is valid for 1 year County and Municipal Appendices must be adopted & approved within this time Each jurisdiction gains approval independently of other jurisdictions and County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Issues Approvable Pending Adoption 23.
