1 Social impacts of I.T By Jack McDermott – B44307

2 Local community The local community with broadband has expanded the ideas of entrepreneurs by not having to move out the comfort of their own homes. Companies are now making people working at desks but in there own homes, people working at home can choose hours when to work and never can have the excuse of being late. Also so many people nowadays have social networking site accounts such as Facebook, Twitter and MySpace meaning everyone talks online and social lives are being overrun by the internet so less people are getting out and they would rather be secluded in their house.

3 Availability of jobs Technology has grown vastly and now we’re entering the machine era and people are starting to lose jobs because the machine is doing a better job than human labour, machines can work faster and longer for no wages, it might cost a lot for the machine but its work rate is worth it.

4 Inequality in broadband There are now more than 16 million internet shoppers in the UK, spending more than £17 billion each year. New data reveals that 56% of internet shoppers are women, while only 44% are men. More than 10% of credit card purchases are now related to internet purchases. Consumers are also likely to spend more when buying over the internet than when they shop in the high street. But there are a small minority that do not have access to internet or broadband because of where they live, chances are more people that live in rural areas will not get access because of how expensive it is to fit broadband in.
