Child Protection Messaging A means of sending a flag on child protection activity out to professionals working with children; Single national approach to the sharing of child protection information; Should lead to timely intervention and help stop children from falling through the net. First step of Getting It Right For Every Child

Child Protection Messaging Should never be seen as an alternative to current child protection procedures: An aid to understanding the fuller picture for a child; An aid to diagnosis perhaps and; At all times an alert to act further and follow agreed processes and procedures.

A child protection investigation has commenced for a child and they are on the register A child has been placed on the child protection register Standards for the messages have recently been consulted upon Final standards will be published in due course A child protection investigation has commenced for a child and they are not on the register There has been past child protection activity for a child Current Child Protection Activity (either a Registration and/or Investigation) on a child who is linked to the child who is the subject of the activity. Previous Child Protection Activity (either a Registration and/or Investigation) on a child who is linked to the child who is the subject of the activity.

Information entered to IT system in usual way Trigger is enacted Information sent to Multi-Agency Store Store houses the information Store creates a notification that a message is available Recipient system identifies that a message is waiting Recipient system Pulls down the Message Practitioners open child’s record in their system and view message Practitioners can View further Information in Store Practitioners follow Usual child protection procedures
