Human Inheritance 03/29/2013 pg. 141-142 Know: What are some traits a child may share with one or both parents? Explain.
2
Review ?s Multiple Alleles Single Gene Information Single gene with more than two alleles Ex: blood types- 3 alleles (A, B, O, AB) height- at least 4 alleles Trait controlled by two alleles Example: widow’s peak, white forelock

Review ?s How does the environment affect genes? Information 1.Diet- lack of proteins, minerals, and vitamins can prevent a person from growing to full height. 2.Medical care- people living longer with health care. 3.Living conditions- better housing reduces infections and diseases.
4
Review ?s How many pairs? Do all pairs match? Information 23 pairs of chromosomes in each human body cell All pairs match EXCEPT 1- sex chromosomes if you are male Females- all match Female sex chromosome pair = XX Male sex chromosome pair = XY
5
Review ?s Sex-linked Genes Sex-linked Traits Information Genes on the X and Y chromosome- pass from parent to child Ex: color blindness, muscular dystrophy Traits controlled by sex-linked genes
6
Review ?s Carrier FYI Information A person who has one recessive and one dominant allele for a sex- linked trait. They don’t have the trait, they may pass trait to offspring. Only females are sex-linked carriers. Males more likely to have sex- linked trait controlled by recessive allele because they only have one X chromosome.
