1. Technology Update SEPTEMBER 2014

2. Laptops  We have successfully deployed 720 new Dell E3330 and E3340 laptops in mobile carts of 30 units allocated as follows:  4 carts per grade level in grades 3-8  We also deployed 3 carts per grade level in grades 9-11

3. Wireless Upgrade  We have completed the process of upgrading our wireless infrastructure to support the additional devices. Rather than mounting access points on carts we opted for what we considered a more scalable long-range plan  We have added additional access points as necessary to support the increased load on our network  2015-16 ERATE may provide additional funding for infrastructure upgrades

4. Netbooks  We have relocated all of the district’s netbook carts to Rollins Place Elementary to implement the 2 nd grade 1 to 1 initiative.  Teachers are currently using the new devices in their instructional programs and we will be providing increased guidance on typing instruction and curriculum activities to prepare students for testing in subsequent grades.

5. PARCC Testing  With the state finally approving a direction for testing, we have an increased focus on preparing our students to participate in online testing in the Spring. Our focus is to provide students with typing practice and PARCC-like practice items related to content to ensure testing success.  Field Testing  We tested approximately 100 students (4 classes) at Northwestern Middle School on March 24 and 25  We tested approximately 100 students at Copper Mill Elementary School on March 27

6. Zachary High 1 to 1 Senior Initiative  Observed Iberville Parish 1 to 1 rollout  Identified dates for student/parent orientation meetings  Established first week of November as targeted deployment
